Mental Stress
“Between stimulus and response, there is a gap, and within that gap is our ability to choose.”
Steven Covey
Its very important how you look at the things that happened to you in your life. In situations and circumstances that you experience every moment of every day. There are many different subjects but the subjects that you tend to hold more stress in may reveal many things through your understanding of them. For example...
But weather or not that stress becomes a severe “physiological load” depends how we
“The Gap” & YOUR awareness of it
Its important to recognize that when things happen, there is a moment that you may stop, think, and then choose....before reacting. In other words, taking a moment to “process” how the circumstance may helping you....or if you choose... how it is hurting you.
Ultimately... The empowerment comes from your understanding of this ability.
Its empowering to recognize how you have handled circumstances in the past, and how you may look at them now. We are creatures of habit and tend to perpetuate a habit or cycle that feels comfortable. but which ever way you choose to feel about the circumstance, there are 2 ways to look at anything.
2ways to react to respond to an outside stimulus or circumstance concerning “The Gap”
Those who recognize this power can choose to become a “Victor” or “Victim” of their current circumstance or stimulus.
Victors perceive the circumstance as ultimately benefiting, going to help you accelerate even faster into your desired direction, even if you may not know its reasoning in that moment. for example...
Current circumstance: Your house has collapsed from a unstable foundation
A victor knows that this will ultimately turn out in there favor, regardless of what the circumstances may look like.
Or You may have chosen in the past to endure becoming the....VICTIM
VictimS perceive the circumstance as something meant to hurt you, come in your way, or take from you. For example...
Current circumstance: Your house has collapsed from a unstable foundation
A victim will automatically point the blame to another person or object, not taking resposiblity, and concluding immediately that they are a victim
Victim: (stimulates sympathetic fight or flight hormones) (stress)(dysfunctional, attraction to others whom perceive this way. cyclic and perpetual from one circumstance to the next)
Victor: (stimulates the para-sympathetic testosterone, dhea, growth hormones)( functional, attraction to others whom perceive this way. Cyclic and perpetual from one circumstance to the next)
You Choose your position... But Ultimately, the power is in the Realization of “The Gap”

There are many different subjects but the subjects that you tend to hold more stress in may reveal many things through your understanding of them. For example...
- Money stress
- Relationship stress
- Things simply are not working out how you may imagine, or want them to.
But weather or not that stress becomes a severe “physiological load” depends how we
- Hold on to it
- Release it
- Deal with it

Current circumstance: Your house has collapsed from a unstable foundation
A victor knows that this will ultimately turn out in there favor, regardless of what the circumstances may look like.
- Takes full responsibility “Somehow I maybe responsible for this.”
- Taking responsibility places you in the drivers seat, with your hands on the steering wheel to make clear conscious decisions to move forth in a constructive direction
- A victor will say to them-self “I will do whatever is possible" "What can I do next" "How can I ensure this will not happen again" and most important "What have I learned" so this circumstance cannot happen again.
- Once you have owned your current emotion many times your able to come to a realization about the whole circumstance and your questions will start becoming answered “Wow, I guess I should have fixed that leaky pipe under the foundation” " You know I did think that I needed a new roof, but just kept putting it off"
Or You may have chosen in the past to endure becoming the....VICTIM
VictimS perceive the circumstance as something meant to hurt you, come in your way, or take from you. For example...
Current circumstance: Your house has collapsed from a unstable foundation
A victim will automatically point the blame to another person or object, not taking resposiblity, and concluding immediately that they are a victim
- Does not take responsibility “Its there fault, he/she/ them.
- “Its sucks why this is happening to me, ..Why is this happening to me?!”
- “I just have bad luck”
Once you label yourself as a victim you render yourself powerless towards your current situation or circuimstance and thus stimulating your fight or flight reponse. But in the end giving birth to a new "Fear" ,new "wall" or "barrier" that will stop or limit you in your future experiences.
